The AFU will receive 18 self-propelled howitzers M109A6 Paladin with improved protection and automated fire control system

The other day, the White House announced a new military aid package for the Armed Forces, which included 155-mm self-propelled howitzers. According to Visegrad 24, we are talking about the M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzer.

Here's What We Know

Ukraine will receive 18 self-propelled units. The Paladin modification differs from the usual version of this SAU by a new turret with improved protection and inner lining made of Kevlar.

In addition, the M109A6 Paladin has an M284 gun on an M182A1 machine gun, a new radio, an automated fire control system, a digital cryptographic data transmission system, and an improved round and ammunition storage compartment.

Development of the M109A6 Paladin began in 1990, and the howitzer was adopted for service in 1992.
