iPhone is 16 years old - Apple has sold 2.32 billion smartphones during that time

Apple yesterday, January 9, marked the 16th anniversary since Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone. The smartphone that changed the world was announced on January 9, 2007.

Here's What We Know

According to the analytical agency IDC, Apple has managed to sell 2.32 billion iPhones smartphones since 2007. As of November 2022.

Apple was the second-largest smartphone market in 2022. Data for the fourth quarter is not yet available, and in the first three quarters the share of the American company was 18%, 16% and 16%.

The market leader is Samsung. South Korean manufacturer has consistently outpaced Apple by 5%. Over the past two years, the U.S. company has only twice surpassed Samsung in terms of quarterly results. That happened in Q4 2020 (21% vs. 16%) and Q4 2021 (22% vs. 19%).
