Bloomberg: Microsoft plans to invest $10 billion in IT-company OpenAI - ChatGPT bot developer
Bloomberg, a major news outlet, reports that Microsoft is considering investing up to $10 billion in the IT company OpenAI, known for its innovative developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
Here's What We Know
Microsoft is believed to be primarily interested in the ChatGPT bot, which has attracted a lot of interest from users.
The chatbot is capable of answering queries by simulating a human conversation, keeping the conversation going and answering additional questions. It could not only compete with Google, but also change the approach to the development and use of search engines.
Bloomberg reports that Microsoft is investing $10 billion in OpenAI and wants 75% of the company's profits until the investment is paid back. After that Microsoft will get 49% of OpenAI stock, 49% will go to other investors and 2% will stay with OpenAI.
It may seem strange distribution of securities, but OpenAI benefits from such an offer, because ChatGPT not only does not bring profit to developers, but also puts them into deficit, because OpenAI pays Microsoft for using its cloud technology.
