This week, complaints from Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players began appearing about being unable to upgrade from the PlayStation 4 version to the next-gen version of the PlayStation 5. Players on Xbox One have had similar problems.

Here's What We Know

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot debuted on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 13, allowing players to enjoy the latest Dragon Ball game with improved graphics and support for 60 frames per second. Additionally, the next-gen consoles have delivered faster world loading times to make Goku's journeys even faster.

The update for current generation consoles is distributed free of charge, so it would seem that players just need to press the "Update" button and voila! But it's not that simple: the update for Series X/S was quickly delayed, and PlayStation 5 players faced serious problems.

Bandai Namco recently confirmed that their research has uncovered an issue that completely blocks Xbox Series X|S users from updating and playing Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. As a result, free updates and Season Pass 2 content for Xbox have been delayed until further notice. The PS5 version seems to be facing a similar issue, with some users claiming that the PS5 update results in purchase errors or incompatibility with their copy of the disc. On the other hand, some players have successfully updated and continue to play.

In any case, the developers promised to fix the problem for all platforms as soon as possible.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was released on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
