Games Done Quick charity event raised 2.6 million dollars
Games Done Quick raised more than $2.6 million for the Cancer Prevention Fund during its first video game scrapping event in 2023. The result is certainly not as impressive as last year's $3.4 million, but it is still a very good result. For all time, the charity campaign Games Done Quick has sent more than $43 million to the fund.
This was reported on Twitter by the organization that conducts the campaign - Awesome Games Done Quick. The campaign is usually held twice a year: in January and in late June or early July.
Last week, the founder of the organization Mike Uyama announced that he would leave the post of the head in 13 years for health reasons, so it is likely that AGDO 2023 will be the last event for him (at least for some time).
The online event could be viewed on Twitch from January 8 to 15. During it, four speed records were broken, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge in Arcade Old Patch co-op mode and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in Bank Run. The walkthrough videos are available on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.
