With the release of the HomePod 16.3 update, Apple will activate temperature and humidity sensors in the HomePod mini
Apple has finally unveiled the second generation of the HomePod smart speaker. And with it released a beta version of the HomePod 16.3 update, which adds some useful features.
Here's What's New About It
So, the final version of HomePod 16.3 activates the temperature and humidity sensors in the 2nd generation HomePod and in all HomePod mini models.
What's interesting is that HomePod minis have this sensor, but for now it's out of service. The HomePod 16.3 update will finally fix this.
You can use these sensors to measure indoor climate, as well as set up some of the automatic processes associated with other smart home devices. For example, you can set the tech to turn on the heater when the room temperature drops below a set point.
The update also gives users the ability to add updated ambient sounds to scenes, automations and alarms, as well as the ability to use Siri to set recurring automations and find people who are in your Find My contacts.
The final version of the HomePod 16.3 update is due out next week - just before the launch of the new HomePod on Feb. 3.
