Carhartt X-1: smart vest with heating and AI that automatically adjusts temperature

Carhartt has introduced a Bluetooth heated vest called the X-1 that will keep you warm in cold weather.

What makes the vest smart is artificial intelligence developed by Clim8, a smart clothing company that specializes in thermoregulation technology. The AI automatically adjusts the heat to maintain a comfortable temperature. It takes into account parameters such as outdoor temperature, activity, and the type of clothing the user is wearing.

Connection and settings take place in the Clim8 mobile app. Before you put on the vest, you need to enter your data (e.g. age, gender or cold sensitivity) and what you are currently doing and what you are wearing (sweater, t-shirt, jacket, etc.). In addition, in the app you can view statistics on the use of the vest.

It looks like an ordinary vest, only with a small charge indicator on the bottom. It runs on the included battery, the connector for which is hidden in the left pocket.

Carhartt X-1 goes on sale February 1. It costs $220.
