Google CEO announces layoffs of 12,000 corporate employees
Another IT giant is cutting a large number of its employees.
Here's What We Know
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in an open letter published on the corporation's blog that in the near future 12,000 Google employees will lose the job - 6% of the total workforce.
He noted that this is a forced measure and hopes that all the dismissed will accept the news of the reduction with understanding and find themselves in another place of work. To mitigate the consequences of the dismissal, Google will pay severance pay in the amount of 4-month salary + bonus for each year worked in the corporation, as well as guarantees health insurance for six months and assistance in finding a job.
Such mass layoffs are due to the general economic crises, rising inflation, a falling IT market, workflow streamlining and cost-cutting after the COVID-19 pandemic.
