Samsung introduced a new flexible display Flex In & Out, which can be folded in both directions
Samsung Display, a subsidiary of the South Korean manufacturer, introduced a new prototype Flex In & Out display.
Here's What's New About It
The peculiarity of the flexible display is that it can rotate 360 degrees, that is, it can be folded in both directions - inward and outward.
In addition, the screen uses a different hinge design that creates a much less noticeable crease. Creasing is a fairly common problem among folding smartphones, but some competitors (such as the OPPO Find N2 and Motorola Razr 3rd generation) have advanced on this issue by having less noticeable creases.
By the way, this is not the first time Samsung Display has demonstrated a Flex In & Out prototype. For example, in 2021, the company showed a display that folds in both directions, but it folded in the form of the letter "S" with several segments. Samsung's current foldable smartphones can still only fold in one direction.
The prototype device with the new Flex In & Out is very similar to the Galaxy Fold. Perhaps such a display will get the future Samsung Galaxy Fold 5, the presentation of which is expected in August.
