Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones keep cracking the camera windows, but Google does not want to admit that this is a defect
In late December, reports about cracked main camera windows on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones started appearing on social networks Twitter and Reddit. A few weeks have passed - and there are more complaints every day.
Here's What We Know
Of course, this does not happen with every device, but nevertheless, the problem is serious. According to users, the protective glass cracked by itself - the phones were not dropped or bumped, which could lead to damage.
But most of all the owners of "pixels" are outraged by Google's response to this problem, or rather - its complete absence. There were cases when the company agreed to repair the damaged gadget for free, but mostly the repairs are at the expense of the buyer.
For example, one Reddit user reported that the service center refused to recognize the cracked glass as a warranty case and demanded $400 for the repair. Earlier users reported that the cost of repair is $200, because it is necessary to replace not only the camera glass, but the entire back of the smartphone.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners want Google to take responsibility, but the company is in no hurry to do so yet, stubbornly turning a blind eye to the problem. According to experts, the problem may be related to the aluminum used on the Pixel 7 series camera panel. In any case, this is not a hardware bug, which can be fixed by releasing an update.
