Ukrainian military will begin training on German Marder BMPs in coming days
A programme to train Ukrainian crews on Marder infantry fighting vehicles will start in Germany in the coming days.

This was reported by Deutsche Welle. The Ukrainian military has already arrived in Cologne. Ukraine will receive a total of 40 infantry fighting vehicles. The first deliveries will begin at the end of March. By the way, at the same time Germany plans to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to the Armed Forces.

The Marder is a German tracked infantry fighting vehicle. The Marder has been in service with the Bundeswehr since the 1970s. The BMP has many modifications and accommodates up to 10 people. The Marder boasts a sealed hull made of several varieties of armour plates up to 30mm thick. These protect the front of the BMP from 20mm and 25mm bullets from a distance of 200m and the sides from shrapnel and 7.62mm small arms. The armament comprises a 20mm RH 202 automatic cannon and a 7.62mm MG3 machine gun mounted in tandem. There is also a machine gun mounted on the roof of the troop compartment.
