In addition to Leopard 1 tanks, the German government also wants to hand over a new batch of Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the Eurointegration publication citing Süddeutsche Zeitung. The talk is about 15 units, which are planned to be purchased from Qatar. Furthermore, Germany is also planning to purchase the ammunition for the anti-aircraft artillery systems. By the way, information about the Qatari Gepard appeared in December 2022, after the end of the World Cup.

Flashback

The Gepard is a German-made self-propelled anti-aircraft gun that is built on the chassis of a Leopard tank. It is designed to cover the ground troops, destroy air targets at an inclined range of 100 m to 4 km and at altitudes up to 3 km flying at a speed of 350-400 m/s, as well as ground and surface targets at a range of up to 4500 meters.

Incidentally, Ukraine now has 30 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks in service. The AFU uses them to destroy Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 and other aerial targets.
