Less than 300,000 followers on Twitter in a month
Twitter Blue's subscription has not proved as popular as the company's management would have liked. By mid-January 2023, one month after the launch, the number of subscribers had not exceeded 290,000.
Here's What We Know
In the United States, only 180,000 people have subscribed to Blue. That's about 0.2% of the total number of monthly active users. The US share was 62%, and Twitter has only 290,000 subscribers in total.
Twitter Blue costs $8 if you pay via the website or $11 if you pay via the iOS and Android app (Twitter only gets $8). In the former case, there's an option to save a bit when you sign up for a year's subscription at $7 per month.
Elon Musk wants half of the company's revenue to come from Blue subscriptions. Twitter aims to generate $3 billion in revenue by the end of 2023, meaning subscriptions should bring in $1.5 billion. Revenue from 290,000 subscribers is $2.32 million a month, which is less than $30 million a year. There's room to grow.
