Media: UK gives Ukraine long-range weapons and train Ukrainian pilots on NATO standard aircraft
According to media reports, Britain is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The Wall Street Journal's international relations correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov has revealed this. The UK will start training Ukrainian pilots to use NATO-standard fighters. It is not yet known exactly what kind of planes they will be using. We can only assume that it will be the Eurofighter Typhoon. The UK Royal Air Force has a total of 160 such planes in service.
In addition, the UK will hand over long-range weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Most likely, it is Storm Shadow missiles (SCALP). The UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace spoke about them earlier. It is a French-British air-to-ground cruise missile. It is capable of hitting targets up to 600km away.
The new military aid package will be announced today, February 8, during President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the UK.
