Ukraine officially submits request to Netherlands for F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters

The Ukrainian side has submitted a request to the Netherlands for the possibility of supplying US F-16 fighter jets to the Armed Forces.

Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren has announced this. According to her, such a request is not easy to fulfill, but the kingdom is ready to consider it. Of course, Ukrainian pilots will have to undergo training before the fighters are handed over. By the way, the Netherlands now have around 40-60 F-16AM/BM fighters in service.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multirole light fighter. It was developed by the American company General Dynamics. Thanks to its versatility and low cost, the F-16 is a success on the international market. It is in service in 24 countries. The F-16 is the most mass-produced fighter of the fourth generation. As of 2009, more than 4,400 machines were built, and more than 2,500 were in service in 2016.
