Xiaomi has officially announced a production launch date for its first electric car

It's been almost two years since the head of Xiaomi announced that the company was entering the electric car market. And now, it has become known when production of the cars will begin. We don't have long to wait.

The CEO of the Chinese company Lei Jun officially announced that mass production of electric cars Xiaomi will begin in the first quarter of 2024. So, there's only a year to wait. Recently, a bumper supplier was fined $149,000 for leaking information about the car.

More than 2,000 people are working on the development of the company's debut vehicle. Xiaomi already has a test model of the electric car, which underwent a winter test in December 2022. In total, the manufacturer wants to have more than 140 test vehicles. Xiaomi intends to use them to test driver assistance systems.

The company is not just entering the automotive market, but is ready to invest several billion dollars in this area and hopes to produce more electric cars than Tesla. By the way, Elon Musk plans to increase production volumes to 1.8 million units by the end of 2023.
