Games and consoles sales chart for January 2023 in Europe: the most popular console is PlayStation 5, and the most bought games are FIFA 23, GTA V and RDR 2

Gamesindustry has shared a new report on the January 2023 sales chart in Europe. PlayStation 5 sales grew by 202%, and FIFA 23 became the most popular game.

Here's What We Know

In total, 12.1 million copies of games were sold, which is 19% less than last January. FIFA 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2 were the most popular games among gamers, taking the top 4 positions. God of War Ragnarok rounds out the top five, and among the new releases, we can see the remake of Dead Space, which was released on 27 January and took 6th place. However, there was a sharp drop in sales of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (by 37%).

The situation with consoles is also interesting. In January, 493,000 of them were sold (data excludes the UK and Germany). This is 15.5% more than in January last year. PlayStation 5 was the most impressive, with sales up 202%. In January last year, PS5 was in short supply, but now the situation is radically different.

The Nintendo Switch is in second place (with sales down 11%), and the Xbox Series X/S is in third place, with sales of these consoles down 32%.

As for accessories, they sold 1.76 million copies, which is 2.1% less than in December 2022. The best-selling accessory was the PS5 DualSense controller.
