3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 - the rarest video card to sell on eBay for $15,000
A collector was able to acquire a rare 3dfx graphics card that never made it to the shop shelves. It's called the 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000.
Here's What We Know
The Voodoo 5 6000 may have been the last video card from 3dfx, which was once the market leader before it was taken over by NVIDIA. However, the developers made a lot of mistakes, which caused the release to be postponed several times and ultimately never happened.
The 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 had four 166MHz VSA-100 graphics chips. Each GPU had 14 million transistors, which no competitor could boast of. It had a total of 128 MB of video memory (32 MB per chip).
One of the collectors managed to buy 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 prototype on eBay. The piece is labeled 3700A and supports 8X FSAA antialiasing. The buyer shelled out $15,000 for the card and claims to have most of the problems fixed. By the way, the 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 cost less than $300 at the start of sales.
