Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has decided to go the way of Elon Musk and has announced that Facebook and Instagram will soon feature the same blue tick that has caused the Twitter executive to come under heavy criticism.

Here's What We Know

Mark Zuckerberg said that the platforms will see the introduction of a paid service called Meta Verified.

It will enhance the security of users' accounts by providing several stages of identity verification. As a result, a blue tick will mean that the account really belongs to the person or organisation in question.

Meta Verified subscribers will get 24/7 technical support.

Meta Verified will cost $11.99 for the browser version and $14.99 for the iOS version per month.

Meta Verified will launch this week in Australia and New Zealand, and later will be available in other countries.
