BleepingComputer journalist Lawrence Abrams was able to get a closer look at Microsoft's Bing chatbot, which is based on the ChatGPT neural network. It turns out that the artificial intelligence is hiding something about itself.

Here's What We Know

Bing can not only search for information at the request of a user. In a conversation with a journalist, the chatbot published a list of internal commands, among which is #mode. This command allows you to change the chat mode.

It was further revealed that there are a total of four modes of operation. The standard one is called Sidney. This is the code name of the search engine. In this mode, Bing responds to user searches.

In virtual assistant mode, Bing works on the principle of Apple and Google assistants (Siri or Google Assistant, respectively). It can send emails, set reminders and book flights. A journalist introduces himself as a schoolboy with imaginary problems and the AI advises him to watch funny videos to cheer him up.

In the third mode, Bing turns into a friend. You can chat with it about personal interests, feelings, experiences, hobbies, etc. Lawrence Abrams once again introduced himself as a schoolboy suffering from his own temper tantrums. The artificial intelligence supported him and gave him some advice.

Unfortunately, the journalist was not able to test the last mode. It is called Game Mode. Here you can play games with the artificial intelligence. However, when trying to interact with Bing, Abrams' account was blocked and denied access to the chatbot. Microsoft did not comment on the situation.
