Rheinmetall will hand over 20 Marder BMPs to Ukraine by end of March
German defence group Rheinmetall has revealed when Ukraine will receive Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
When We Can Expect It
According to Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, the company plans to hand over 20 BMPs to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the end of March. In addition to Rheinmetall, the Bundeswehr will also transfer another 20 BMPs to Ukraine. Unfortunately, there is no information on when the deliveries will start. By the way, Ukrainian crews are already undergoing training in the use of the vehicles.

The Marder is a German tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It has been in service of the Bundeswehr since the 1970s. The BMP has many modifications and accommodates up to 10 people. The Marder boasts a sealed hull made of several varieties of armour plates up to 30mm thick. These protect the front of the BMP from 20mm and 25mm bullets from a distance of 200m and the sides from shrapnel and 7.62mm small arms. The armament comprises a 20mm RH 202 automatic cannon and a 7.62mm MG3 machine gun mounted in tandem. The BMP also has a machine gun on top of the troop compartment.
