Meta has prepared a pleasant surprise for those who want to buy the new virtual reality headset. The company will start lowering the price of Quest Pro and Quest 2 as of January 5.

Here's What We Know

The Verge reports on the price drop for virtual reality headsets, citing Mark Zuckerberg, head of Meta. The goal is to make the devices affordable for more users.

The Quest Pro professional model will drop in price by half, from $1,500 to $1,000. The price of the Quest 2 VR gaming headset with 256GB of storage will drop from $500 to $430. The 120GB version costs $400, but there's no word yet on whether it will go down in price.

As early as tomorrow, March 5, residents of Canada and the US will be able to buy Quest Pro at a discounted price. On March 15, the VR headset will go down in all the countries where it's officially on sale. Quest 2 will be discounted from March 5 in Australia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK and the US.

In 2023, Meta will introduce the Quest 3 virtual reality gaming headset. But the company won't be expecting a professional-level replacement for Quest Pro in the next few years.
