Honda has unveiled an unusual unmanned truck. The Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) is a third-generation vehicle that will be useful on construction sites.

Here's What We Know

The Honda AWV is aimed at working in closed areas. The truck can carry loads of up to 907 kg on two pallets. The maximum speed is 16 km/h. The 18 kWh battery provides 10 hours of operation or a distance of 45 km.

The AWV can be driven autonomously or as a manoeuvre. In the second case, there is no driver at the wheel, because there is no steering wheel and the operator with a tablet is responsible for steering. During autonomous driving, the vehicle relies on LiDAR and GPS.

The Honda AWV has successfully passed the first stage of testing. The Japanese company is already looking for partners in order to conduct tests of the unmanned truck in real conditions. On March 14 Honda will bring AWV to Las Vegas at CONEXPO.
