A new trend in the video game industry: 9 out of 10 games on Metacritic's "highest scoring" list are remasters or remakes
In the first 3 months of 2023, we have already received several remasters and remakes: Dead Space, The Witcher 3, Metroid Prime Remastered and others, and on 24 March, Resident Evil 4 Remake will be released. Reimagining or improving popular and successful games is a new trend in the video game industry. But players and critics love it, as 90% of the games on the Metacritic 's "highest scores" list are remasters or remakes.
Here's What We Know
Metroid Prime Remastered and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition have the highest scores on Metacritic. They have 94 points from the press and 8.8 and 8.4 from players.
The third, fifth, and sixth places are taken by one game - Resident Evil 4 Remake. The highest score is 93 for the PlayStation 5 version. The PC and Xbox Series X versions received 92 and 91 points respectively.
The only game on the list that is not a remaster or remake is Hi-Fi Rush. It received 89 points from the press and 8.8 points from players.
