It's official: US hands over M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine before autumn

We recently wrote that the US wants to transfer older models of Abrams tanks to Ukraine than originally stated. This information has now been officially confirmed.

Here's What We Know

According to the Pentagon, the United States will send 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces instead of the M1A2 Abrams. The USA will take older models of tanks from its reserves, so the armaments will be transferred before the autumn, not at the end of the year, as it was stated earlier. Incidentally, the USA made such a decision together with Ukraine.

According to a Pentagon spokesman, the M1A1 Abrams tanks do not differ much from the M1A2 Abrams in their capabilities. They have the same 120mm cannon, 50mm machine gun and modern technology.
