Slovakia delivers first MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine - remaining aircraft to be delivered in coming weeks
On 17 March, Prime Minister Eduard Heger confirmed that Slovakia would send MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. The first batch has already departed.

Slovakia has approved the delivery of 13 Soviet fighter jets. On 23 March 2023, Defence Minister Jaroslaw Nad' confirmed that the first planes had already been delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The batch consists of four fighters. The transfer was carried out by Ukrainian pilots in coordination with the Slovakian air force.
Nagy added that Ukraine would receive the rest of the planes in the coming weeks. Instead, Slovakia will buy 12 Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters and 500 AGM-114 Hellfire II missiles. The contract is estimated at $1 billion, but half will be paid for by the United States.
