Xiaomi has quietly added two budget smartphones to its range: the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. There have been no presentations or any announcements - the new products simply appeared on the company's website. Both smartphones have good value for money and will be sold on the global market.

Here's What We've Seen

The models are almost identical in both looks and features. Both feature 6.52-inch HD+ screens with 1600×720 resolution, MediaTek Helio G36 processors and 5000mAh batteries with support for 10-watt charging via the Micro USB port. There's a choice of 2/32 and 3/32GB storage versions.

The cameras are pretty basic too, with a 5 MP front and a dual main camera with an 8 MP sensor and an optional QVGA lens.

The devices run on the Android 12 Go operating system.

What's the difference then? It's minimal: the Redmi A2+ has a fingerprint scanner on the back, while the regular Redmi A2 doesn't.

The price of the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ is not yet known.
