Two very old Xiaomi smartphones receive stable global MIUI 14 firmware for the first time
Xiaomi has pleased owners of two very old and inexpensive smartphones with a stable version of its MIUI 14 software. But the firmware didn't get the latest version of the operating system.
Here's What We Know
The update has become available for the global versions of the Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro. The software numbers are v14.0.3.0.SJWMIXM and v14.0.3.0.SJZMIXM. The firmware is based on the Android 12 operating system rather than Android 13. This is probably the last major update for both smartphones.
The Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro were announced in spring 2020. They feature a Snapdragon 720G chip, a 6.67" IPS Full HD display and a 5020mAh battery. The Pro version features support for 30W charging instead of 18W and a 64MP camera instead of 48MP.
Both smartphones went on sale with MIUI 11 firmware based on Android 10. Prior to MIUI 14, the Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro were running MIUI 13 and Android 12.
