Samsung employees leak corporate data to ChatGPT - company banned from using chatbot in the workplace
A number of companies remind their employees not to copy confidential information into ChatGPT. Samsung probably forgot to do this, or employees didn't listen well to management.
Here's What We Know
At least three Samsung employees leaked sensitive corporate data to the chatbot within two weeks, for proprietary use only. One software developer was the first to do so. He sent the chatbot a piece of source code for optimization purposes.
Then a second employee shared with ChatGPT an algorithm to identify defects on chips. A third Samsung employee sent the chatbot a transcript of a production meeting for the neural network to help it make a presentation.
Samsung is concerned that the number of leaks could increase in the future. As a result, the company has banned employees from using ChatGPT in the workplace and plans to create its own generative AI system.
