Samsung runs Exynos chips with console-grade AMD Radeon graphics and very low power consumption
Samsung has expanded its cooperation with AMD. The South Korean giant has signed a new agreement with the red chipmaker, under which new Exynos processors with Radeon GPUs are expected.
Here's What We Know
At the end of 2021, Samsung announced a partnership with AMD. A few months later, the 4nm Exynos 2200 mobile processor with Xclipse 920 graphics on RDNA2 architecture appeared.
The chip is used in the 2022 Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra flagships. In terms of performance, it falls short of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with Adreno 730 graphics chip. Samsung, however, wants to remedy this.
The South Korean manufacturer is working with an American company on a new Exynos chipset with Radeon GPU, which will feature console-level graphics. In addition, the processor will feature very low power consumption.
A company spokesperson from South Korea said that Samsung and AMD will revolutionise the approach to developing graphics chips for SoCs. Xclipse graphics are also expected to appear in the low-cost Galaxy A, Galaxy M and Galaxy F smartphones.
