In February, Poland said it was going to transfer PT-91 Twardy tanks to Ukraine. It looks like the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have them.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by military analyst Oryx. According to open sources, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received 60 tanks. By the way, Poland still has about 200 such combat vehicles. Most likely, they will also be transferred to Ukraine when the Polish army starts receiving American Abrams tanks and South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks.

Flashback

PT-91 Twardy is a Polish MBT based on the Soviet T-72M1 tank. The first PT-91 prototypes were made in 1993. The base version of the tank was serially produced at the Bumar Labendy factory between 1995 and 2002. The main feature of the PT-91 is the Twardy protection using ERAWA's own active armour. It has 394 blocks. They cover the front of the hull and turret. These blocks are placed with little or no clearance to each other. Tests have shown that ERAWA blocks increase the protection of a tank by 30-70%, depending on the type of projectile.
