Ukrainian defence minister confirms Ukrainian Armed Forces receive MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missile system

Yesterday, 18 April, the German government website reported that Germany had handed over the MIM-104 Patriot SAM system to Ukraine. This has now also been confirmed by the Ukrainian Defence Minister.

Oleksii Reznikov wrote a post on social media. He thanked Germany and other partners for the assistance. Unfortunately, the minister did not say how many surface-to-air missile systems the AFU received. Most likely, we are talking about one battery, which can include from 4 to 8 launchers.

The Patriot is an American anti-aircraft missile system developed by Raytheon. It consists of an airborne interceptor missile and a high-performance radar system. The probability of hitting an aircraft is 0.8-0.9, a tactical missile 0.6-0.8. The cost per missile is about $3 million.
