Following Germany: US and Netherlands also hand Ukraine MIM-104 Patriot SAMs, as promised

Apart from Germany, Ukraine also received MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missile systems from the USA and the Netherlands.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by Ukraine's Deputy Defence Minister Oleksandr Pavlyuk in Telegram. According to him, thanks to the US SAMs, Ukraine will be able to defend itself against Russian cruise missiles and drone strikes.

Pavlyuk did not disclose the number of surface-to-air missile systems, but earlier the partners promised to transfer two batteries and additional launchers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Patriot is an American anti-aircraft missile system developed by Raytheon. It consists of an airborne interceptor missile and a high-performance radar system. The probability of hitting an aircraft is 0.8-0.9 and a tactical missile 0.6-0.8. The cost of one missile is about $3 million.
