US to send Abrams tanks to Germany to train Ukrainian military in late April

The United States is preparing to send Abrams tanks to Europe for Ukraine.

The Associated Press writes about it, citing officials. We are talking about 31 tanks. The combat vehicles will be shipped to Germany at the end of April. A few weeks later, the Ukrainian military will start training at the Grafenwoehr proving ground. The training programme will last just over two months.

Flashback

The US announced the transfer of Abrams tanks in the M1A2 modification to Ukraine in January. Later, it became known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive older versions of the M1A1 SA, which is in service with the US Ground Forces. This will make it possible to deliver the vehicles this year, rather than 2024 as originally announced.
