The editor-in-chief of women's magazine Die Aktuelle was fired after publishing an AI-generated interview with Michael Schumacher

German magazine Die Aktuelle has published an "interview" with Michael Schumacher that was generated by artificial intelligence. Before that, the magazine promised its readers the first interview with the legendary racer after the crash.

Schumacher's family wants to sue Die Aktuelle. Funke, which owns the women's magazine, has already apologised and managing director Bianca Pohlmann called the published material "tasteless and misleading”.

The head of the media company also added that the article did not meet the requirements of journalism and should not have appeared. Ann Hoffmann, editor-in-chief of Die Aktuelle, lost her job. She had been responsible for the magazine's activities for 14 years.

At the end of 2013 Michael Schumacher was involved in a skiing accident and suffered a head injury. Since then, the family has not given interviews or reported on the racer's medical condition for several years.

Netflix released the documentary in 2021. Corinna Schumacher, the racer's wife, said Michael was undergoing therapy at home.
