Apple captures 49% of the refurbished smartphone market in 2022 - Samsung sells almost half as many devices
Apple continues to lead the refurbished smartphone market by a wide margin. The US manufacturer sold almost as many devices marked Refurbished in 2022 as all other companies combined.

According to Counterpoint, the refurbished smartphone market is up 5% in 2022 compared to 2021. At the same time, sales of such devices fell 17% in China. The main reason was the outbreak of coronavirus. In India and Latin America sales increased by 19% and 18% respectively.
Apple controls 49% of the market, up 5% from 2021. Samsung's share has fallen from 28% to 26%. The South Korean manufacturer recently started selling refurbished Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones in the US priced from $619.
Vivo and OPPO each accounted for 3% and Huawei for 2%. All other companies combined for 17% of the market. Refurbished 5G-enabled smartphones accounted for 13% of all devices by the end of 2022.
