Unexpectedly! Samsung announces One UI 5 Watch shell for Galaxy Watch
Samsung has unexpectedly announced a major new software update for its signature smartwatch.
Here's What We Know
The shell has been named One UI 5 Watch. According to Samsung, developers have focused on improving three aspects of the system: sleep, sports features and security. For example, Samsung has updated its proprietary sleep tracking app and added Sleep Coaching to build healthy habits.
As for fitness features, the One UI 5 Watch got personalised Heart Rate zones, which will offer different tools for running and other sports.
There's also a revamped SOS system in the shell, which provides a direct link to the emergency phone and transmits the wearer's medical data and location information. The One UI 5 Watch will also enable fall detection by default for users aged 55 and over.
When We Can Expect It
Samsung will launch beta testing of the One UI 5 Watch soon. A stable version of the software will be released in the second half of 2023. Most likely, the shell will be based on the Wear OS 4 operating system.
