The image for the super-sized screen of the Gulliver shopping mall was created without the use of any computer: Galaxy S23 Ultra became the creator of the art project "Breath of Hope"

The Breath ofHopeart project opened a new page in the history of smartphone capabilities: for the first time, an image shot and edited without a computer was used on large external media. It was created by Samsung Electronics Ukraine together with photographer Sonya Plakidyuk, who was inspired by Ukrainian national costumes and used elements of embroidery and traditional jewellery. Everything was first shot with the 200-megapixel camera of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and then edited into a collage on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet using the in-house software.

The Breath of Hope project combines modern technical capabilities, Ukrainian national traditions and photographic art. The camera of the Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone and Samsung software turned into tools of contemporary photographic art. Images of Ukrainian models taken by the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera became the basis for collages, which were supplemented with photos of fragments of national costumes, patterns of historical and modern embroidery and jewellery in the Gallery Editing app. The collage was then complemented by painting with an electronic S-Pen.

Sonya Plakydyuk: "The Breath of Hope project is an inspiring creative experience"

"Modern multimedia art is impossible without technology. The Galaxy S23 Ultra provides a wide range of creative opportunities for professionals, and I hope the example of our project will become a creative impetus for everyone who is interested in photography," says the photographer about her participation in the project.

This is a story about Ukrainian identity, strength of character, and deep cultural symbols

Ellina Lebedeva, Director of Mobile Devices at Samsung Electronics Ukraine, commented on the idea of the project:

"Technology is not just a set of useful functions and devices that have become part of our everyday life

"They inevitably penetrate the world of art, opening up endless possibilities for creativity and new ways to be creative. The Breath of Hope project is a combination of the achievements of Ukrainian traditional culture and the possibilities of modern technological innovations, which creates impressive multimedia compositions. It is important to note that this creative experience is available to all Galaxy S23 Ultra users."

To demonstrate the results of the project, we chose ultra-large visual planes in Kyiv - one of the largest screens in Europe at the Gulliver shopping centre with a total area of about 4,000 metres, and a brand wall near the entrance to the Samsung branded store near the Pochaina metro station.
