Ukraine to receive new batch of French AMX-10RC wheeled tanks

France handed over AMX-10RC wheeled tanks to the AFU in March and is now preparing to send a new batch.

Here's What We Know

This is stated in the Joint Declaration following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Paris on May 14. Deliveries of the armaments should start in the near future. Unfortunately, how many AMX-10RC tanks will be in the new batch is still unknown. The first batch numbered around 40 vehicles. Incidentally, as of 2016, France had 248 AMX-10RC tanks in service.

Flashback

The AMX-10 RC is a French armoured fighting vehicle manufactured by GIAT. The AMX-10 RC is armed with a 105mm tank gun that is capable of engaging targets up to 2km away. The tank also has a 6×6 wheel configuration and boasts a hydro-pneumatic suspension system with variable ground clearance and tilt. This gives the fighting vehicle the ability to hide in difficult terrain. The AMX-10 RC has been in service in France since 1981. The tank took part in operations in the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan and the Sahel.
