Japanese manufacturer SkyDrive has revealed a concept for an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Here's What We Know

The novelty has been named SD-05 and it is currently under development. The aircraft has eight propellers, a maximum take-off weight of more than 500 kg and two seats. According to the manufacturer, the aircraft will be able to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and fly for 30 minutes on a single charge. In other words, the SD-05 will be suitable for fast city travel. In addition to taxis, it could also be used by medical services.

Incidentally, the SD-05 is based on the SD-03 aircraft. It was introduced several years ago. The aircraft has successfully passed all tests, and received certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT).

When We Can Expect It

SkyDrive plans to unveil the production version of the SD-05 at the World Expo in 2025.
