Ukrainian military to learn how to use Abrams tanks in coming days

At the end of January, the US announced that it planned to transfer Abrams tanks to Ukraine. And now, nearly five months later, a training programme for Ukrainian crews is about to start.

The information was shared by VOA, citing Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder. The training program will begin "approximately next week" in Germany. Ukrainian crews will arrive on the ground in the next few days.

Flashback

The US initially announced the transfer of Abrams tanks in the M1A2 modification to Ukraine. Later, it became known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive an older version of M1A1 SA, which is in service with the US Ground Forces. This will make it possible to deliver the combat vehicles this year and not in 2024 as originally announced.
