This year the Ukrainian Armed Forces will finally receive American fourth generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters. They will improve the effectiveness of the US missiles the Ukrainian Air Force has in service.

Here's What We Know

Brigadier General Serhiy Holubtsov, chief of aviation of the Air Force Command of Ukraine, has made this known. According to him, the multi-purpose fighter will be able to strike enemy ground and surface targets, as well as shoot down enemy missiles.

The F-16 is capable of using almost the entire line of NATO air munitions. In particular, we are talking about AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles and JDAM smart bombs, which Ukraine has already received. Soviet aircraft, in particular the MiG-29, are now used for launch.

The Fighting Falcon will enhance the effectiveness of the AGM-88 HARM. The aircraft is equipped with a receiver to provide the pilot with information about which of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems is operating from which azimuth. Air Force specialists now have to program the missiles on the ground. The same applies to JDAM smart bombs.
