$118,000,000 contract: US to buy Gepard anti-aircraft tanks for Ukraine
The United States of America has announced that it plans to buy German Gepard anti-aircraft tanks for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The information was shared by the US Department of Defense. The contract is for $118,000,000. It will be implemented by the company Global Military Products. The anti-aircraft tanks will be taken from Jordan. The US does not disclose the number of installations, but it is known that Jordan has 60 such air defence systems in service. The contract is to be completed by May 2024. Incidentally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces already use more than 30 Gepard systems.

The Gepard is a German antiaircraft self-propelled machine gun. It is designed to protect ground troops, destroy air targets at a slanting range of 100 meters to 4 kilometers and at altitudes up to 3 kilometers flying at 350-400 meters per second, as well as surface and surface targets at ranges up to 4500 meters. The SAMS is built on the chassis of the Leopard tank.
