Google explains and demonstrates how its Imagen Editor image editing tool works
Google continues to work on the Image Editor tool, which allows you to edit photos using text prompts or drawing.
Here's What We Know
With Imagen Editor, you can select an area that you want to change or edit and add text prompts for that specific area without changing the rest of the picture. The example shows how you select the body of a dog and then query for "red suit with white star". The demonstration on the right shows how to add a "cardboard rocket", and the most impressive is the addition of "blue gaming headphones".
Google has published several other examples and a research paper, but Imagen Editor is not yet available to the general public, citing "concerns about responsible artificial intelligence".
From a practical perspective, Google emphasises that TGIE can provide "fast, automated, and controlled editing as a convenient solution when recreating visual images becomes time-consuming or impossible (for example, adjusting objects in holiday photos or enhancing fine details in a picture of a puppy created from scratch)".
This technology may become available when Google Photos gets the Magic Editor feature, which uses elements of generative artificial intelligence.
