Most modern smartphones, especially top-of-the-range models, are splash and water-resistant. However, when a user brings a "drowned" device to a service centre, they often refuse to repair it free of charge, claiming it is not covered by the warranty. And the water resistance is often just protection against splashes. YouTube channel author TechDroider decided to test the water resistance of three current flagships: the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro Max and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. But his test was pretty extreme.

Here's What We've Seen

So, first, the blogger placed the smartphones in a container and poured liquid over them. But not plain water, but a sweet fizzy drink. After that, he left the gadgets in the freezer for 6 hours.

When the smartphones carefully "marinated" and turned into a solid block of ice, the blogger "warmed" them in hot water. And how do you think the phones survived? They continued to work as if nothing had happened! But only one of them, namely Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra issued a warning that liquid got into the charging port and it should be dried before charging the gadget.

The result is impressive, but you'd better not repeat such experiments at home, as success may not repeat itself, or the liquid will show itself in a few days.
