The Chinese company realme is leaving the German market following vivo. OnePlus and OPPO did so even earlier.

Here's What We Know

Chinese corporation BBK Electronics is leaving Germany in its entirety. This is due to a patent dispute with the Finnish company Nokia.

A spokesperson for realme has confirmed that the brand is limiting business operations in Germany. However, the company has no plans to leave Europe just yet. Investments will be directed to other countries in the region. Smartphone owners in Germany will be able to continue to enjoy software and service support.

As for the lawsuit, it was filed by Nokia in 2022. The legendary Finnish brand accused its rivals of using 4G and 5G signal processing technology without paying licence fees. OPPO had earlier claimed that Nokia was demanding unreasonably high royalties.
