$180,000,000 contract: Romania buys Watchkeeper X reconnaissance UAVs from Elbit Systems

Romania has signed a contract with Israeli company Elbit Systems to buy Watchkeeper X drones.

Here's What We Know

We are talking about three sets of UAVs worth $180,000,000. The contract also includes an option to buy four more complexes. Deliveries of the drones are scheduled for two years. Incidentally, the UAVs will be manufactured at Romanian facilities.

Flashback

The Watchkeeper X is a reconnaissance UAV, which is an export version of the Watchkeeper WK45 (in service with Britain). The drone is equipped with a Spectro XR multispectral and electro-optical sensor. In addition, it boasts new communication functions, as well as the ability to use weapons.
