Ukrainian pilots begin to learn how to use American F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters.

Here's What We Know

The training programme has started in Denmark. This was announced by acting Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund. Presumably the training will take from 6 to 8 months.

Incidentally, Denmark may also become one of the first countries to transfer F-16s to Ukraine. In service with the Royal Danish Air Force there are 43 Fighting Falcon fighters, 30 of which are still actively used. But they have already begun to be replaced by fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters.

Flashback

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multi-role light fighter. It was developed by the American company General Dynamics. Thanks to its versatility and low cost, the F-16 is a success in the international market. It is in service in 24 countries. The F-16 is the most mass-produced fighter of the fourth generation. As of 2009, more than 4,400 machines were built, and more than 2,500 were in service in 2016.
