Huge US aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) worth more than $10bn arrives in Vietnam
While USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) makes a stopover in Croatia, another big US Navy aircraft carrier has visited Vietnam. The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) arrived in Da Nang last week.

The aircraft carrier arrived in Vietnam amid celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the two nations' comprehensive partnership. The ship is part of the US 7th Fleet, which supports freedom and openness in the Indo-Pacific region.
The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) arrived in Vietnam accompanied by two U.S. Navy ships. Along with the aircraft carrier, the missile cruisers USS Antietam and USS Robert Smalls visited the Asian country. This was reported by the US Embassy in Hanoi.
USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier worth over $10 billion at 2021 prices. Construction of the ship began in February 1998. The aircraft carrier was launched in March 2001 and commissioned in June 2003.
The ship is equipped with two 191MW nuclear reactors. It has a maximum cruising speed of 56km/h. The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) has four 20mm Mark 15 Phalanx CIWS cannons, three Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile systems and two 324mm torpedo launchers, and can accommodate 90 aircraft and helicopters.
