Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda announced during his visit to Ukraine on 28 June that Ukraine will receive NASAMS SAMs. It is now known when deliveries will begin.

When We Can Expect It

According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, Ukraine will receive two NASAMS launchers within three months. That is approximately in September. By the way, Lithuania ordered SAMs for the AFU from the manufacturing company. The contract amounted to $9,800,000.

Flashback

NASAMS is a mobile surface-to-air missile system for destruction of maneuvering targets at low and medium altitudes. The system was developed in the early 1990s by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence with the participation of the American company Raytheon. The range of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles is 20-40 km, and the maximum altitude is 20 km.

Incidentally, Ukraine now has at least two NASAMS batteries in service. One battery consists of six mobile missile launchers. In addition, the system has a vehicle for charging, target detection and maintenance of the complex.
